Emmons County Sheriff Reuben Richter handed in badge to retire after serving 16 years as Emmons County Sheriff and before that, five years as Chief Deputy under the late Sheriff Art Sauter. Saturday nights major snow storm caused two accidents in Emmons County and numerous vehicles slide off roads. N.D. Farmers Union vote on headquarters location and state office is to remain in Jamestown.

Linton Hospital clinics now offer new vaccination to prevent shingles. The former St. Boniface Catholic Church Rectory, rural Kintyre, was burned down; the church closed at the end of 2006. Several recent donations put the Strasburg Area Memorial Scholarship Foundation over $36,000 mark.

The Linton Fitness Center opened in the former Willow’s Store building on March 5 and is run by Zila Oliveira. Wind farm discussed for 5 county area. Water quality and any impact on the Highway 1804 embankment are the major issues that must be addressed before a funding can be pursued for an impoundment at Beaver Bay to create a year-round lake for fishing and recreation. Joe Kiefer, manager of the Farmers Elevator in Linton, described this year as a good harvest with about 100,000 bushels of wheat piled on the ground. Dr. Richard and Sharmae Vetter of Fargo and their nine daughters receive International Family of Year Award at the Knights of Columbus Convention in Nashville.

Barbara Leier of Braddock makes about an 80 pound batch of dough every year for the famous frybread at the South Central Threshing Association’s annual Threshing Bee. Buster Wolf of Zeeland sank a hole in one Aug. 29 and Rod Hjelm of Linton sank a hole in one at the Linton Country Club July 11, both received $250 from BNC Bank in the bank’s Hole-In-One Contest.
