Linton Senior Citizens are fundraising for new building

By Luella Jochim

President, Linton Senior Citizens

Since my last report, we have had a very busy year and our building fund has grown to $24,674.72. This was possible because everyone worked together. People who donated were John and Virginia Horner, Ray and Rose Bosch, Gregory and Gloria Kelsch Jr., Mary Heer, Marvin and Eva Heyne, Wendelin and Marcella Wangler, Irene Will, Genevieve Brown, Paul Welder, Adam and Cecelia Baumstarck and William and Helen Ibach.

The businesses in our town that donated were Bosch Meats- Bruce Bosch, Jim Weisser, R & J’s Sales, Humann Heating & Air, Jerry Huizenga, Linton Fitness Center, American Legion Gaming, Hedahls Inc., Jay Miller-American Family Ins., Diana Bodvig, Lisa McCrory, Scherr’s Meats-Kelly Scherr, Wendy Wangler-Tree Trimming, Casual Cuts-Lenora Bosch, Unique Attractions, Missy Goebel. I’m sorry if I missed anyone.

The next step in our project is our raffle and dinner. The raffle consists of a Medora Trip for two including a one night’s stay, a pitchfork fondu and the Medora Musical as the first prize, and the second prize is two cordless handheld phone systems, donated by BEK Communications. Tickets for the raffle or the dinner are being sold by the Senior Citizens and the following businesses: BNC Bank, Credit Union Bank, Green Lantern, Martin’s Oil Co., Linton Hardware, Kelly’s Bar, A Touch of Honey, Keith’s Service & Repair, Wagner Body Shop, Linton Hospital, Linton Medical Center, Happy Hour Bar, Kimble’s Guns & Repair, Emmons County Record, Emmons County Treasurer, and Big Joe’s and Tammy’s Salon of Hazelton. The drawing will be held during the Dairy Day dinner on June 6. The Dairy Day dinner and dance are sponsored by the Linton Chamber.

At our last meeting it was voted to have a $500 Club and we do have some that are on the list already. In order to get your name on a pledge, you have to give $500 or more. The senior citizens need to show the community we are serious about a better building.

I have been approached by so many people about starting Bingo again. We decided at our next dinner, which is April 24, we would have Bingo and talk about ways to bring it back and keep it. So at the Senior Center on April 24 at 7 p.m. let’s see if Bingo can be started again. Bingo players come and bring a friend.

The supper on April 24 will be at the Community Center. We are inviting not just our members but others in the community that would like to see what it would be like to eat in a nice building. All we ask is that you let us know so we can prepare enough food. The menu will be meatloaf, baked potatoes, lettuce salad and vegetable. So if you are planning to come please R.S.V.P. by April 17 and call Luella Jochim, president, at 254-4075.
