
Linton hosts Junior High South Central Conference Track MeetLinton hosted the Junior High South Central Conference Track Meet on May 1. In the Girls Division, Napoleon ran away with the team title with 204 points, while Linton scored 98 points to finish as the runner-up. Edgeley-Kulm placed 3rd with 77 points, followed by Central Prairie (48), Steele-Dawson (41), South Border (16), Strasburg (14) and Zeeland (10). Four members of Lintons team each placed in four events at the meet, led by Kayln Schneider and Robin Weber, who accounted for 32 points apiece. Schneider won individual titles in the 100-meter hurdles (:19.09) and high jump (4' 4"), placed 2nd in the 200-meter hurdles (:34.95) and 5th in the 400-meter dash (1:09.79). Weber won the 800-meter run (2:47.41), placed 2nd in both the long jump (12' 2") and triple jump (26' 9"), and 3rd in the 400-meter dash (1:08.48). Anna Schmidt and McKenzie Schatz also placed in 4 events each for the Lady Lions. Schmidt won the long jump (12' 9"), placed 4th in both the 100-meter dash (:14.86) and 400-meter dash (1:09.72), and finished 6th in the 200-meter dash (:31.09). Schatz placed 4th in the 800-meter run (2:59.11), 6th in the triple jump (23' 8"), 7th in the long jump (11' 1") and 8th in the 400-meter dash (1:12.33). Kelsie Silvernagel scored all of Strasburgs points by placing 2nd in the 100-meter dash (:14.43) and 3rd in the 200-meter dash (:30.54). Zeelands Jessica Fetzer placed 6th in the long jump (11' 1") and 8th in the 100-meter dash (:15.88), and the Lady Viking 400-meter relay team (Fetzer, Rebecca Meier, Elizabeth Henderson and Mikayla Meidinger) finished 3rd with a time of 1:05.64. South Border ran away with the team crown in the Boys Division with 221 points. Steele-Dawson was a distant second with 77 points, followed by Linton (72), Central Prairie (58), Napoleon (44.5), Edgeley-Kulm (27), and H-M-B (17). Tanner Purintun placed in 4 events for Linton, including titles in the 200-meter hurdles (:32.11) and high jump (5' 0"). Purintun also placed 2nd in both the triple jump (30' 9") and 110-meter hurdles (:19.70). Scott Schmidt placed 3rd in the 200-meter hurdles (:33.36) and 4th in the 400-meter dash (1:08.03); James Vetter placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash (1:06.06) and 8th in the 200-meter dash (:31.09); Brock Nagel placed 5th in both the triple jump (26' 7") and 1,600-meter run (5:44.01); and Ethen Roemmich placed 7th in the 1,600-meter run (6:13.43). Linton (Roemmich, Schmidt, Vetter, Nagel) also placed 2nd in the 1,600-meter relay (4:42.52). Evan Weiss accounted for all of H-M-Bs scoring by placing 2nd in the long jump (13' 3"), 4th in the 800-meter run (2:43.82) and 5th in the 400-meter dash (1:10.09). |
