Jan. 4, 2003 (STRASBURG)— Kulm used a 16-7 run in the final period to pull away to a 49-39 victory over the Strasburg Lady Clippers. Amber Land scored a gamehigh 22 points, while Sheila Braun and Danae Baker netted 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Lady Gophers, who improved to 7-4 on the season. Josie Reiner and Kayla Buechler scored 9 points apiece to pace Strasburg, and other Lady Clipper scorers were Kelli Hummel 8, Laurie Hulm 6, Alicia Baumgartner 5, and Joy Wynveen 2.

25 YEARS AGO

Dec. 29, 1987 (NAPOLEON)— Kurt Grensteinner scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Braddock Bobcats to a 67-62 victory over Hazelton in the consolation semi-finals of the Napoleon Invitational Basketball Tournament. Leon Leier added 19 points for Braddock. Mike Benz scored a game-high 23 points for Hazelton, and Chris Berger netted 18 points for the Tigers.

40 YEARS AGO

Jan. 5, 1973 (LINTON)— Linton got all of its scoring from four players in a 57-49 victory over Strasburg. Glenn Lauinger led Linton with 19 points, and Terry Tschosik added 18 for the winners. Randy Ohlhauser and Dan Mischel netted 10 points apiece to complete the Lion’s scoring. John Nieuwsma paced Strasburg with 15 points, while Carl Buechler netted 11 points, and Chris Scherr chipped in 8 points for the Clippers.
