On Wednesday afternoon, the Bakker School children entertained with a Christmas Program at the Strasburg Care Center under the direction of Joy Dykema and Penni Ryckman. It was also the January birthday party at the Center that same afternoon. The Linton Lutheran Ladies served birthday cake and ice cream. Irene Anderson had a January birthday.

John and Harriett Haak of Linton returned Tuesday evening from a three week trip to Anchorage, Alaska, to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays and also celebrated Harriett’s birthday, which was Dec. 24. They were guests of their daughter, Yvonne and Norman Lopes, and their family. The weather was mild and in the 40’s in Alaska and very little snow, only flurries. A special joy was getting acquainted with a great-grand baby, Elijah James, who was born Nov. 24.

On Sunday afternoon, the Hull Church was in charge of the chapel service at the Strasburg Care Center with Pastor Stout giving the message and Wynerva Van Heukelom was the pianist.

Gerritt and Frances Nieuwsma accompanied Mike and Joan Wittmeier to Mitchell, S.D., where they were guests of the Wittmeier’s son, Brian and Mandi Wittmeier. Other guests there were Doug and Jill Wittmeier, Nick, Abby and Emi of Faulkton, Denae and Brian Matherly of Mitchell, Maxwell and Michael of Sioux Falls, S.D. They were guests from Friday to Sunday. The group all attended the First Reformed Church in Mitchell on Sunday morning.

On Saturday, guests of Dennis and Marlyn Van Boven were their son, Ron and Diane Van Boven, Mal and Barb Wynveen of Strasburg and Corey and Joy Vetter and Breelynn of Linton. This was in honor of Marlyn’s 80th birthday.
