Donors support project of Tri-County Tourism
Security State Bank President Lorren Henke has presented the Tri-County TourismAlliance with a Gold Sponsorship supporting the Germans from Russia food culture cookbook project in October, and Mike Bullinger and the board of Wishek Manufacturing became a Platinum donor in December.
The cookbook project committee, a subcommittee of the Tri-County Tourism Alliance, has been collecting oral interviews, recipes and photos of food for historical archives. If funds can be raised in time, a coffee table “cook” book will be published by June 2013. Interviews and photo collection have been paid for in part by a grant from the North Dakota State Historical Society, but volunteer members of the nonprofit group have done the bulk of the work. These generous donations will go a long ways toward paying for the printing of the book, according to Alliance officials.
A representative of the Tri-County TourismAlliance is available to make a presentation about the cookbook or other ongoing projects to local service club, city council or county commission meetings.
Volunteers are working on economic development opportunities based on cultural tourism, and anyone interested is invited to join the alliance at its annual meeting 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Rueben’s in Napoleon.
