Jessie Buck, 99, formerly of Linton
Jessie was born Aug. 8, 1913, on a farm northwest of Hazelton, the daughter of Lemual and Ethel Mae (Wallace) Jenkins. She attended country school. In her early years Jessie’s family made a move to California. Following behind her was Raymond.
Raymond and Jessie were married on Aug. 8, 1931, in Waterford, Calif. Following their marriage, they lived in California for a short time and then settled back in North Dakota. They lived and farmed on a few different farms before purchasing their farm northeast of Hazelton. They lived and farmed there until retiring in the early 1970’s. They moved into Linton.
Raymond died in March of 1994. Jessie continued to live in Linton until she entered the care center in February of 2006. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Linton Women’s Bible Study Group. She enjoyed cooking, reading, playing board games and visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Cledus and Hazel Buck, Linton, Charlene Buck, Sumner, Wash.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ethel Schatz, Linton and Lorraine and Kenneth Schatz, Linton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; and bunches and bunches of greatgreat grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; her son, Darrel in 1997; a granddaughter, Laurie Ann Buck; a great-great-granddaughter, Amanda Monroe; three brothers, Art, Donald and John; five sisters: Mabel, Lucille, Cora, Martha and Mildred; and a son-in-law, Alvin Schatz.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Linton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Geary Dodd officiating. Organist was Beverly Dodd. Congregational hymns were “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Special music by Randy Heitz “Adoration.” Georgene Heitz read Great Grandma Jenkin’s Testimony.
Casketbearers were David Buck, Greg Hagan, Randy Heitz, Rodney Heitz, Warren Schatz and Weston Schatz.
Burial was in the Hazelton Cemetery, Hazelton.
