Arthur J. Meidinger, 86, of Wishek
Arthur J. Meidinger, 86, Wishek, formerly of Zeeland, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at his home in Wishek, under the care of Prairieview Hospice.
Arthur J. Meidinger, the youngest child of John R. and Lydia (Meidinger) Meidinger, was born Sept. 27, 1926. He was raised on the family homestead 12 miles north of Zeeland. Art attended country school and graduated from Zeeland High School in 1945.
On Aug. 1, 1948, Art married Violet Ketterling at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church rural Zeeland. Art and Violet lived on the family homestead for seven years and in 1955, they built a new farmstead one mile west of the homestead.
He was a partner of the Herreid, S.D., livestock sales barn for several years.
Art is survived by his wife, Violet, Wishek; four daughters, Janice (Lyle) Reiner, Burnsville, Minn., Carol Snyder (Bruce Cariveau), Fargo, Lois Gad, Minneapolis, Minn., and Marsha (Terry) Rath, Wishek; five grandchildren, Jason (Kellie) Reiner, Rosemount, Minn., Greg (Heather) Reiner, Burnsville, Scott Snyder, Fargo, Mindy Rath (Dan Graulty), Bismarck, and Patrick Rath, Bismarck; two great-grandchildren, Kyra Reiner and Marissa Reiner; and one sister, Meda Heupel, Eureka, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Rueben, Aaron, Isadore and Otto; and five sisters, Othelia, Adeline, Eva, Frieda and Loretta.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at United Church of Christ Church, Wishek.
Burial was at New Kassel Reformed Cemetery, rural Zeeland.
