H-M-B students present Skillbott to legislators
They set up a booth in Memorial Hall along with five other CTE (Career Technology Education) programs.
Skillbott is a new program that H-M-B instituted in their Business Communications Class this year. It is an online computer program that teaches students skills that equip them for their future careers.
The program begins with tests and quizzes that help students discover what they would like to do in the future. It has lessons on making resumes and cover letters and how to prepare for interviews.
Through videos, discussion, quizzes and other online activities, Skillbott teaches how to handle various situations in the work place. It also stresses communication skills.
Teacher Darcie Dykema assisted the students in shar- ing information about the program to legislators between their legislative sessions. Many of the legislators were impressed with the program and hope to share it with surrounding schools. Several of them remarked that the skills this program is teaching students, such as communication, will be invaluable to their future.
