This past weekend I made a few phone calls, and what I learned very quickly is the fact that Hazelton has some really nice, friendly people who were incredibly fun to visit with.
I have only just begun, but I do have a few things I’d like to share with you, and I hope, that as the weeks come and go, I will be able to write about more of the things happening in your community.
Jim Schmidt turned 80 years old on Feb. 8. There was a celebration in his honor held on Sat. Feb. 9, at the Linton Senior Center. Jim’s sister, Barbara from Wisconsin, was able to attend the party as well as many others which was a very nice “gift” for Jim. He received 90 cards and appreciated everyone making his 80th birthday so special.
The Hazelton Development Corporation is holding Bingo every Sunday night at the coffee shop until the end of March. You just never know how lucky you might be, so you might want to make a point of attending.
There is an increasing demand for housing in the Hazelton area, so if you have anything available for sale or rent be sure to get the word out through the Emmons County Record’s classified ads.
Be sure to let me know if there is something you’d like me to report. I will be in contact with more of you in the next week, and I can honestly say I am looking very forward to it.
I would love to hear about your birthday or anniversary celebrations, baby showers, fundraisers or maybe about the garage you’re building or the kids who were home from college for the weekend.
I am available at firstname.lastname@example.org, by phone at (605) 294-5874 or (701) 680-7255 or by mail at 724 6th Ave, Claremont, S.D. 57432.
Here’s a line to get you thinking positively: An optimist is someone who falls off the Empire State Building and after 50 floors says, “so far so good!”
Have a wonderful week!
