CEOs selected as finalists for awards

Vistage International has chosen two North Dakota Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) as finalists for its 2012 Vistage Member Leadership Awards.

Heather Jones, President and owner of City Air Mechanical, Bismarck, and Derrick Bulawa, CEO/General Manager of BEK Communications, Steele, were two of 18 finalists who were nominated for the awards.

The Vistage Member Leadership Awards recognize leaders within the organization who display inspiration, hard work and accomplishments in the business world at large and in their communities.

Jones was a finalist in the passion category. Born and raised around a mechanical contracting business, she has been the President and Owner of City Air Mechanical since 2007.

Bulawa was a finalist in the collaboration category. Bulawa has been in the communications and technology industry for more than 30 years. He joined BEK Communications as the CEO/ General Manager in 2006.

Jon Jennings, area Vistage Group Chair, said Vistage members like Jones and Bulawa were nominated for these awards from all over the world.

“It is a testament to the quality of business leadership in North Dakota when two of our CEOs are recognized by their international peers,” Jennings said. “Heather and Derrick have built their organizations to be leaders in the industry locally and nationally. Their contribution to the local Vistage group is highly valued.”

Jennings helped launch the western North Dakota Vistage group in 2005 and he has been the Chair ever since. He was recognized in 2011 with the Vistage International 2011 Chair Excellence Award.
