Word was received that Laurel Farwell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the husband of Charlotte Van Vugt, formerly of Hull, passed away last week. Charlotte is the daughter of Esther Van Bugt and grew up in the Hull area.

Gertrude Nieuwsma of Bismarck was a guest of her brother, John and Harriet Haak of Linton from Friday to Monday morning. She came especially for John’s birthday which was Monday and which they celebrated over the weekend. Gertrude also visited at the Elmer and Phyllis Haak home in Linton.

Several attended the World Day of Prayer services in Linton and Westfield on Friday, March 1.

Russell and Elaine Ryckman and Jerome and Linda Pool drove to Yucaipa, Calif., and they stayed with the Pool’s daughter, Jenice and Robin Smith. They did some sightseeing, went to the Science Center and also saw the space shuttle, Endeavor in Los Angeles. They were gone for about two weeks and returned home last Monday.

Saturday dinner guests of Mike and Joan Wittmeier were her parents, Gerrit and Frances Nieuwsma, Steve and Margaret Nieuwsma, Ed and Jean Langeliers of Beulah and Wayne Nieuwsma. In the afternoon, John and Harriet Haak and their guest, Gertrude Nieuwsma of Bismarck came for ice cream and cake in honor of Gerrit’s birthday on Sunday, March 3, and John Haak’s birthday on Monday, March 4.

Ione Huber of Little Herreid, S.D., flew in from Apache Junction, Ariz., on Friday to attend the funeral service for her sister-in-law, Barb VandenBurg, which was held Monday in Carson. She is a guest of her sister, Darlene and Eldon Droog, and was a Sunday church visitor.

Sunday morning church visitors were Todd and Margie Vossler of Bismarck.

Pastor Stout and Curt Nieuwsma plan to attend the MinnKota Church Classis at the Christian Reformed Church in Volga, S.D., on Thursday and Friday.

We received some rain and a nice layer of wet snow Sunday evening.
