Thursday morning, coffee and something new in Bingo was offered to the residents in the dining room followed by current events and let’s exercise in the activity room. The residents look forward to hearing the top stories from the Bismarck Tribune. The monthly volunteer meeting was held in the activity room. Thank you, volunteers, for all you do. Thank you dietary for a delicious meal of turkey, bread dressing, vegetable, and chocolate pie for dessert. It was delicious. Scripture with Carol Jean Dykema was held in the chapel in the afternoon. Thank you, Carol Jean, for the scripture lesson. Also, thank you to Marilyn Voller for playing the piano. A variety of bars were served for lunch following scripture in the dining room. The residents were asked to come to the activity room for card club. Several of the residents played Kings In The Korner and Pinochle, while others just preferred to watch the games that were being played. In the evening, the residents were asked to come to the activity room for What’s Next Game. The residents look forward to trying their luck at the variety of trivia questions.
Washington’s Birthday— Friday morning, the residents were invited to the dining room for SNIB, coffee, and a snack. The residents enjoy visiting with each other during coffee time. Manicures followed in the activity room. Thank you, activity staff, for making the residents nails look so colorful. Target kickball was enjoyed in the dining room after dinner. You could hear lots of laughter and excitement coming from the residents. Jell-O with whipped topping was served along with a beverage for lunch. The residents enjoyed the evening by coming to the activity room to participate in the activity Take A Guess Presidential Trivia. The residents did very well with answering the questions asked by activity person Sheila Ohlhauser. Thanks, Sheila.
The Saturday morning activities consisted of coffee and SNIB followed by current events and let’s exercise in the activity room and the B-wing south solarium. The afternoon’s resident’s choice activity was Penny Ante. The residents got to learn several things about each other. Rice Krispie bars and a beverage was served for lunch following Penny Ante.
The residents were invited to the activity room on Sunday morning to watch Mass on TV followed by current events and let’s exercise. The Sunday afternoon Protestant Church service was held by the Pollock Lutheran Church led by Pastor Ramona Hayes. Thank you for your services. Thank you also to Chris Nieuwsma for playing the piano. Following the service, everyone was invited to the dining room for a time of fellowship. Banana bread and a beverage were enjoyed by the residents and guests. The afternoon’s resident’s choice activity was to have no activity. There were several visitors stopping by throughout the afternoon visiting residents.
Monday morning, started out with something new in Bingo and coffee in the dining room. Book club was offered to the residents in the afternoon followed by cash Bingo. The money was donated by an anonymous donor. Thank you for the cash donation. The big blackout winner was Rose Glas. Thank you, dietary, for preparing the delicious bars. Two Truths and A Lie was the activity for the evening. The residents were to share two true statements about themselves and one little fib. The residents sure learned a lot about each other. Fun was had by all.
Tuesday morning, coffee and SNIB began the day’s activities. Several residents gathered in the dining room to enjoy a snack and coffee while they visited. Current events and let’s exercise followed in the activity room to complete the morning activities. Book club started out the afternoon activities followed by resident council. Thank you to everyone that attended and gave their input. We always appreciate having everyone participate in choosing the next month’s meals and activities. Bismarcks, coffee, and juice were served for lunch. Beanbag toss was played in the evening. The residents took their turn throwing the beanbags. The Strasburg-Zeeland Clipper boy’s regional basketball game was on during this time, so you could also hear cheering going on.
On Wednesday morning, the residents gathered in the dining room to have a snack and visit for awhile. Feeling good group followed in the activity room. Thank you to the activity staff for pampering the lady residents. The ladies look forward to this activity. Good neighbor group was held in the B-wing south solarium. Diane Kiefer read “Mama’s Fruitcake” and “Endearing Memories” to the residents. Thank you, Diane. The residents enjoyed the stories. In the afternoon, the Strasburg High School Choir entertained the residents with a variety of musical selections. Thank you for the music. Everybody enjoyed the program and we look forward to your next visit. For lunch, warm chocolate chip cookies were a big hit. Later in the afternoon, the activity staff read the news from the Emmons County Record and the Prairie Pioneer to the residents. Thank you, activity staff. The residents look forward to hearing the local news. In the evening, the residents gathered in the activity room to enjoy the old-time music on the largescreen TV.
We want to welcome Linus Horner to our facility. Linus came to us from Linton. Linus knows several of the staff and residents. We look forward to getting to know Linus better.
