John Weisz, 76, of Hazelton


John Weisz John Weisz JohnWeisz, 76, of Hazelton died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.John was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Linton, the son of Walter and Lydia (Munsch) Weisz. He attended Burr Oak School through the eighth grade.

John served in the Army from 1960 through 1962, in Germany. On Aug. 20, 1965, he married Vonnie Nicholson in Mandan. They farmed, ranched, and operated a butcher shop northwest of Hazelton until John’s heart attack in 1989.

He loved playing cards, especially pinochle, fishing, farming and raising cattle.

John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vonnie; two daughters, Carol (Bruce) Thompson, and Shelly, all of Bismarck; three sisters, Johanna White, Evansville, Wyo., Ruby (Albert) Marquart, Bismarck and Helen (Vernal) Christensen, Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack; two sisters, Mary Buckley and Frances Kessel; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; three nieces and one nephew.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 20 13, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with the Rev. Rebecca Aardahl officiating.

Burial was in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
