Several area people attended the Spring Banquet at the First Baptist Church in Linton on Tuesday evening, March 5, and also the program following the meal, The Masters Plan Quartet.

The Ladies Aid Society met on Thursday afternoon with Stella Stout leading the Bible lesson and Marlyn Van Boven was the hostess and Carol Dykema gave a special number. Ione Huber was also a guest at the meeting.

On Monday, Eldon and Darlene Droog and Ione Huber attended the funeral of their sister-in-law, Barb Vandenburg, at the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Carson. We would like to extend our sympathy to the family.

We would like to extend our sympathy to Marge Dykema on the passing of her sister, Leona Byma, 89, at Sunnyside, Wash., at a care center. She passed away Monday, March 4.

Henry and Pat Vandenburg from Gas City, Ind., were Tuesday to Thursday guests of Eldon and Darlene Droog. Henry is Darlene’s brother and Ione Huber was also a guest of the Droog’s and was a guest until Saturday.

We would like to extend our sympathy to the family of Donald (Doc.) Janecek, age 73. He passed away on Wednesday, March 6. His funeral was held Saturday, March 9 at Peace Lutheran Church in Linton.

Frances Nieuwsma and Joan Wittmeier traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D., on Wednesday and were guests of Joan’s daughter and family, Denae and Brian Matherly and they went especially to attend Mitchell and Max’s Childrens Musical about the parables of Jesus at the Sioux Falls Christian School on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, they also visited Art and Marcia Jelsma, Aubrey, Adam and baby Kylie at Sandford Health. Kylie is a patient at Sanford Health. France’s sister, Betty Vermeer of Sioux Center, Iowa, came to visit them on Friday. Frances and Joan also visited with Kaye (Nieuwsma) Selzler, they had lunch on Saturday in Sioux Falls with her. Kaye’s parents were the late Pete and Genevieve Nieuwsma. On the way home, Frances and Joan were supper guests of Joan’s son and his family, Doug and Jill Wittmeier, Nicholas, Abby and Emmy on Sunday evening at Faulkton S.D.

Ione Huber left for their winter home in Apache Junction, Ariz., on Saturday.
