Dan R. Richardson Post 54 Birthday Party
The Dan R. Richardson American Legion Post 54 of Linton celebrated its 94th birthday with a social and supper at the Emmons County Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, March 10. The event was sponsored by the Dan R. Richardson American Legion Post 54 Auxiliary. The Dan R. Richardson Post was established in 1919 and named after Emmons County native and World War I veteran Dan R. Richardson. Post 54 Commander Richard Naumann was the emcee for the Dan R. Richardson American Legion’s Birthday Party.
Garrick Voigt, a junior at Linton High School, spoke during the Post 54 Birthday Party. Voigt participated in the American Legion’s High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, and was sponsored by Post 54. Voigt earned $950 by placing first at the local, district and region levels, and 4th at the state level of the program. He is the son of Tracie Ritz of Linton, and Doug Voigt of Raleigh.
