Linton Catholic Daughters hold annual contest


Division I (Grades 4 and 5) winners in the Catholic Daughters of Court St. Claire #1846 Art, Essay, Poetry, Music, Computer Art and Photography Contest from Linton School were, from left, Warren Wangler (2nd Place—Art), Tiffney Salwei (1st Place—Art and Computer Art), Shelby Bosch (3rd Place—Art), Bailey Hulm (1st Place—Essay), Samantha Bosch (1st Place—Poetry) and Erica Hoff-Wald (2nd Place—Poetry). The Catholic Daughters of Court St. Claire #1846 of Linton held its annual Art, Essay, Poetry, Poster, Music, Photography and Computer Art Contest for students in grades 4-12.

Students were allowed to choose any of the seven categories, and they could enter more than one category to the theme of “Jesus is Reflected in Me” and/or “My Life is a Reflection of Good.”

The contest had three divisions. First place winners in each category received a $10 cash prize, second place winners received $7, and third place winners received $5. Each student who entered the contest received $1.

In Division I (Grades 4-5), Tiffney Salwei captured 1st Place in both Art and Computer Art. She is the daughter of Roger and Linda Salwei of Linton. Warren Wangler, son of Wendelin and Shirley Wangler of Linton, placed second in Art; and Shelby Bosch, daughter of Clyde and Iris Bosch of Linton, placed third in Art.

Bailey Hulm, daughter of Ryan and Jodi Hulm of Linton, captured first place in Division I Essay; and Samantha Bosch, daughter of Ron and Jenel Bosch of Linton, placed first in Division I Poetry. Erica Hoff-Wald, daughter of Andy Wald and Linda Hoff of Linton, placed second in Poetry.

In Division II (Grades 6-8) Poetry, Hannah Schumacher, daughter of Brian and Sue Schumacher of Linton, captured first place, while Sadie Bosch (daughter of Bruce and Dixie Bosch of Linton) placed second, and Raanne Schiermeister (daughter of Nettie Schiermeister of Linton, and Veris Schiermeister) placed third.

Jessica Salwei won first place in Division III (Grades 9-12) Poetry and Computer Art. She is the daughter of Roger and Linda Salwei of Linton.

All first place winners have been forwarded to the State Chairman to be judged at the state level. First place winners at the state level will advance to be judged at the national level.
