Teams compete in championships at Aberdeen Tourney
The Strasburg-Zeeland Clippers 5th grade team won their opening game against Ipswich, S.D., on Friday evening, April 5, at the Aberdeen “Y” Tournament. The following day they defeated Britton, S.D., and went on to play against Herreid, S.D., in the championship game. The Clippers were defeated and ended the tournament with a second place finish. Competing in the 8th grade division was a team comprised of players from Strasburg-Zeeland and Linton H-M-B. The team defeated Faulkton, S.D., in the first round of play Friday evening. Saturday afternoon they defeated Herreid to advance to the championship game where they also defeated Florence-Henry, S.D., to take home Championship trophies. Above is the Strasburg-Zeeland 5th grade team, left to right, Coach Chris Huizenga, Colter McBride, Jake Wagner (4th grade), Coleman Nieuwsma, Hunter Haak, Jordan Huizenga, Jesse Rohrich, Mac Kramer (4th grade) and Coach Steve Midboe.
The 8th grade team includes, back row, left to right, Coach Missy Goebel, Lance Weiser (6th grade), Chase Schiele, Stetson Haak (7th grade), Nicholas Nieuwsma, Hunter Huizenga and Coach Darek Keller; front, Tanner Goebel (7th grade), Cole Baumiller (6th grade) and Adam Hulm (7th grade).
