State’s grain stocks noted

All wheat stored in all positions on March 1, 2013, totaled 144 million bushels, up 38 percent from a year ago, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, North Dakota Field Office.

On-farm stocks of 87 million bushels are up 55 percent from 2012. Off-farm stocks of 56.8 million bushels are up 17 percent from last year.

Durum wheat stored totaled 22 million bushels, up 12 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 16 million are up 19 percent from 2012. Off-farm stocks of 6.0 million bushels are down three percent from last year.

Barley stored in all positions totaled 32.7 million bushels, up 71 percent from 2012. On-farm stocks are 10.5 million bushels, more than twice the holdings of last year. Off-farm stocks, at 22.2 million bushels, are 54 percent above last year.

Corn stocks totaled 156 million bushels, up 50 percent from a year ago. Of the total, 78 million bushels are stored on farms, up 34 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at a record high 77.7 million bushels, are up 69 percent from last year.

Soybeans stored totaled 27.6 million bushels, down 27 percent from last year. On-farm stocks, at 14 million bushels, are down 20 percent from a year ago. Offfarm stocks, at 13.6 million bushels, are down 33 percent from 2012.

Oats stored totaled 4.0 million bushels, up 10 percent from last year. On-farm stocks, at 3.4 million bushels, are up 10 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 624,000 bushels, are up 12 percent from 2012.

All sunflowers stored in all positions totaled 686 million pounds, up 42 percent from 2012. Oil sunflower stocks were 586 million pounds, up 58 percent from last year. Non-Oil sunflower stocks were 99.7 million pounds, down 10 percent from a year ago.
