Linton-HMB takes part in Sakakawea Classic Meet
The Linton-HMB Boys and Girls Track teams saws their first action of the season in the Sakakawea Country Classic Meet in Hazen on April 27.
Linton-HMB scored 34 points to place 9th in the Boys Division. The Lions captured one title, taking the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:05.86. Members of the relay team were James Vetter, James Schmaltz, Ryan Schneider and Brock Nagel. The same four runners made up the Lion 1,600-meter relay team, which placed 4th with a time of 3:52.12.
Linton-HMB also placed 5th in the 400-meter relay (Chase Schiele, Rylan Jacob, Austin Bernhardt and Tayler Wetzsteon), and 6th in the 800-meter relay (John Glatt, Jacob, Bernhardt and Wetzsteon).
Individual place winners for Linton-HMB were Ryan Schneider, James Schmaltz, Jon Purintun and Austin Schell. Schneider placed 4th in the 1,600-meter run (5:04.43), Schmaltz placed 5th in the 800-meter run (2:16.46), Purintun placed 7th in the high jump (5' 6"), and Schell placed 8th in the 110-meter hurdles (:19.05).
Hazen captured the team title in the Boys Division with 91 points, followed by Stanley-Powers Lake (68.5), Rugby (59), Carrington (52.5) and New Town (48).
Linton-HMB placed in four events in the Girls Division and finished with 8 points. The Lady Lions (Tiffaney Gerving, Rachal Umber, Amber Umber and Brittni Brandner) placed 6th in the 3,200-meter relay (11:22.32), and 8th in both the 400-meter (AlLee Vetter, Morgan Holzer, Jadyn Gefroh and Megan Martell) and 1,600-meter (Cassie Gefroh, Tiarra Bosch, Taylor Aberle and R. Umber) relays.
Paulina Haak was the lone individual place winner for the Lady Lions, as she came away with 6th place in the discus with a toss of 100 feet, 4 inches.
Carrington captured the Girls Division team crown with 118 points, followed by Hazen (97.5), Rugby (78), Southern McLean (45.5) and Shiloh Christian (41).
