Zeeland concert is May 13
The Zeeland Public School will hold its spring concert on Monday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the gym under the direction of Trudy Fraase Wolf.
The kindergarten and first grade will be singing four songs: “Rig-a-jig-jig,” Mister Rabbit,” “Get On Board” and “Sick Donkey.”
The second and third graders will sing three songs: “Mission Control,” “Cradle Hymn” and “If All the Raindrops” and will play two songs on recorders: “Jade Wings” and “Two-part canon.”
The fourth and sixth grade will sing “Crawdad Hole,” “The Old Carrion Crow” and “Wells Fargo Wagon.”
Rounding out the vocal part of the program will be the grades seven through 12 choir performing a medley of Beach Boys songs.
On the instrumental side, the sixth grade band will be playing “AMinor Matter” and a jazz exercise titled “Make Up Your Own” where each student will improvise a few measures of a solo. The sixth graders will be joined by the seven through 12 band to perform “Strange Pursuit.”
The seven through 12 band will perform two songs from “American Heritage,” a suite of American folk songs and “Salute to Beethoven.” Finally, the band will perform a novelty number including special percussion effects using cups.
