Strasburg

By Christine Nieuwsma

We had a wonderful weekend with weather in the 70s. Monday is supposed to bring a high of 90 degrees with some wind both Monday and Tuesday, prompting some fire danger alerts. Cooler temperatures are supposed to be coming Tuesday or later with temperatures back in the 70s. Area farmers are busy getting their fields planted while town residents are out walking more and some getting their gardens ready for another growing season. Some are also enjoying taking time off to go fishing.

Tuesday Delma Dyk went to Bismarck for a retirement party for Diane Dyk at the Hughes building, retiring after many years as a speech therapist. Later Delma was a supper guest of Delmer and Diane Dyk. On Thursday she went to Oakes for a band concert in which Tyler Krumm played. She was also a supper guest at the Krumm’s house. On Saturday, guests for Delma at the annual Mother’s Day luncheon at Westfield were Darlene Kost of Herreid, S.D., Arvetta and Trina Krumm of Oakes, and Diane Dyk, Amanda and Destiny Dyk of Bismarck.

No doubt area seniors are excited about graduation coming up this weekend. Congratulations and Best Wishes to all of you as you achieve this milestone and look forward to the next chapter of your lives! Strasburg High School will have their graduation ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Kelin and Nicole (Klein) Wikenheiser on their marriage! They were married May 4, 2012, in Las Vegas but celebrated locally by renewing their vows at the Court House in Linton followed by a reception at the KC Hall on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Parents of the groom are Tim and Kellie Wikenheiser of Strasburg and parents of the bride are Bob and Judy Klein.

Ralph Nieuwsma spent a few days in the Linton hospital.
