FCS of Mandan awards scholarships

Mariah Brooks Mariah Brooks Four area high school seniors have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Farm Credit Services of Mandan.

Steven Weigel, Mariah Brooks, Robert Richter and Alyssa Wehri were chosen for their outstanding scholastic and leadership achievements during high school.

Steven Weigel, son of Randy and Cindy Weigel, Kintyre, plans to major in farm and ranch management at Bismarck State College.

Mariah Brooks, daughter of Ryan and Becky Brooks, Bowman, plans to attend North Dakota State University in Fargo to major in preveterinarian animal science.

Robert Richter, son of Marlyn and Susan Richter, Menoken, plans to major in farm and ranch management at Bismarck State College.

Alyssa Wehri, daughter of Brian and Cheryl Wehri, Hebron, plans to major in animal and range science at North Dakota State University in Fargo.

The independent Farm Credit Services associations headquartered in Fargo, Mandan and Minot award scholarships annually to students entering college in the fall. Recipients must be from a farming and ranching family, or be planning to pursue a career in farming or some other aspect of agriculture. Selection is based on academic record, personal attributes, vocational promise, leadership and financial need.

Alyssa Wehri Alyssa Wehri Farm Credit Services of Mandan is a member-owned cooperative offering farm operating, equipment and real estate loans and a variety of financial services. The Mandan association serves a 20-county area in southwestern North Dakota, with full-time offices in Beulah, Bowman, Carson, Dickinson, Mandan, Mott, Washburn and Wishek.
