14th Annual Jodi Jahner-Mosset Golf Tournament held at Linton Country Club
The 14th Annual Jodi Jahner-Mosset Memorial Golf Tournament was held June 8, at the Linton Country Club. This year’s event consisted of 99 golfers (33 three-person teams), and the event is organized bymembersoftheLinton High School Class of 1984, of which Jodi was a member.
Several members of the class help with the organization and execution of the tournament, and the tournament is chaired by Dennis Beck, Tom Deis, Peter Jahner and Bruce Basaraba, all of Bismarck.
Members of the Class of 1984 who played in this year’s tournament were Deis, Beck and Jahner, along with Gerald Jacob and Ron Mosset. Other volunteers included Heidi Nieuwsma, Twyla Sathren, Nicole Nieuwsma, Tim Dockter and Katie Nieuwsma.
Proceeds from the tournament go toward awarding the Annual Jodi Jahner-Mosset Memorial Scholarship, which is presented annually to students at Linton, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock and Strasburg High Schools, and $500 went toward the Strasburg Area Memorial Scholarship.
2013 recipients of the Jodi Jahner-Mosset Memorial Scholarship from Linton High School ($1,000 each) were Karlee Feist, daughter of Gordon and Laura Feist of Linton; and Brock Nagel, son of Vern and Shar Nagel of Linton. H-M-B’s recipients of the scholarship ($500) were Theodore Naaden, son of Mark and Tami Naaden of Braddock; and Travis Baumiller, son of Scott and Corrine Baumiller of Hazelton.
Emily Luebke, daughter of Steve and Jocelyn Luebke, was the recipient of the Jodi Jahner-Mosset Scholarship ($500) for Strasburg High School, and Strasburg Area Memorial Scholarship recipients were Mason Kramer (son of Mark and Dana Kramer), Cole Nieuwsma (son of Lee Nieuwsma and Carrie Nieuwsma), Kellie Tougas (daughter of Don and Lonna Tougas) and Jennifer Wikenheiser (daughter of Don and Deloris Wikenheiser).
Champions in this year’s tournament were Shane Feist, Joe Kramer and Pete Baumgartner (-8). The team of Claude Wagner, Donavan Blazek and Alex Jahner, and the team of Bryce Sowitch, Kurt Potts and Craig Ohlhauser tied for the runnerup spot (-3), and the team of Justin Jahner, Shane Jahner and Jeff Reed came away with 4th place (-2). A tie for 5th place (-1) occurred between the teams consisting of Kyle Carr, Chris Stahl and Katie Carr; and Paul Horner, Tom Jahner and Stacy Kramer.

• Longest Putt #1: Gordy Jangula (40' 10").
• Nearest to Pin #4: Ashley Jahner (A-13' 6"), Shane Jahner (B-10' 5") and Jeff Reed (C-6' 2").
• Longest Drive # 8: Ashley Jahner (W), Shane Feist (A), Jeremy Haid (B) and Alex Jahner (C).
• Nearest to Pin #7: Kyle Carr (A-4' 9"), Tom St. Peter (B-14' 10") and Mark Weiler (C-31' 2").
There were two Horserace Derbies this year, and the winners were:
Derby # 1: Bob Petrick, Gerald Jacob and Rod Jacob.
Derby # 2: Micah Cotton, Duane Nieuwsma and Mike Jahner.
